My family started the summer by checking an item off our list of things we dream of doing in our lifetime. In 3 weeks, we traveled to 5 continents and 7 countries. We flew on 7 different airlines, 12 different airplanes, spent 60 hours in the air, and traveled 26,844 miles. Through all of this travel, we completed a full lap around the world and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Flying Emirates Airline from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Geneva, Switzerland
Over the next several months, I’m excited to share with you a closer look at our main stops along the way. We visited the countries of: Australia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Morocco, and Portugal during our recent trip. Each country immersed us in very different cultures, customs, and many unique experiences.

One goal we had for the trip was for each of us to only bring one carry-on bag. Three weeks of clothes packed into something easily transportable that we could each bring on the plane with us. I can’t tell you that it didn’t take some planning in advance, but we were able to make it happen. By only bringing one carry-on a piece, we avoided some issues that other travelers experienced when we had some flight delays.

When we first started sharing that we would soon be going on a trip for 3 weeks, people would ask if we were planning to bring our children. We really have made a point to include our kids in our travels. I can’t image not having them with while we were gone that long, and the experiences they had are part of their life education. We’re fortunate that they both are great travelers, so bringing them with was an easy choice.

A question that I’ve been asked most frequently since we’ve returned from our trip is what our favorite location was to visit. While I enjoyed seeing each of the cities we stopped in, I’d most like to return to Singapore. It was unbelievably clean and friendly with delicious food, beautiful vegetation, and amazing architecture. There were many things to see, and I’d love to go back to explore more.

Something that I like to share with people about our trip is that traveling to multiple destinations during one vacation is easier than you think. With proper planning in advance, it is easy to navigate your way through customs and different airports. Many airports even have virtual tours you can take in advance, so you know where to go once you arrive.

I’m looking forward to sharing more with you about the experiences we had along our around the world adventure!
